We were interested in a property in Washington Heights and we live out of state but would be relocating in the near future (a month or so) for work. We were really impressed with the property and were ready to jump on it! We just wanted to do a FaceTime walk through or equivalent before signing any contract. We contacted Carlos and he was at first pretty helpful, but then when he found out that we were from out of state and would like to see the apartment through video all hell broke lose. He started discouraging us from the neighborhood and said that we needed to turn in our applications ($25 each so $50 total) for the privilege to see the apartment through video chat because they only wanted "serious applicants", but they would have shown it to us in person for free...? While filling out the application, we noticed that they wanted a 5 year rental history. We have been renting for 4.5 years and would need to have a co-signer for out application...
